Wicker Park, 1560 North Milwaukee Avenue. This two thousand square foot space near the intersection of North, Milwaukee and Damen avenues is located in a beautiful one hundred year old Victorian building. It can be easily spotted by its 14 foot high floor to ceiling glass storefront.

As a Spanish tapas restaurant and a world music lounge, “People” blends oak, wrought iron and copper elements to create a rustic and cozy atmosphere. Large wrought iron chandeliers hang from the ceiling. The faux painted walls with several shades of brown tones create a warm vibe. Four long communal tables greet the customers at the front of the house.

We are a part restaurant, part neighborhood bar & lounge. However, food is taken very seriously at people. Our chef Ralph Steinberg brings a wealth of experience from his days at North Pond Cafe and Nomi at the Park Hyatt. At people, traditional Spanish tapas are served on small plates, allowing groups to share and taste many dishes. Red and white wine sangria complement the tapas. Menu items include dishes such as the Queso de Cabra (The Classic baked goat cheese in tomato sauce with a garlic crusted bread)... Or Gambas a la Plancha (Pan sauteed shrimp in sherry sauce). At People Lounge, your food is prepared from scratch each time from the freshest ingredients available...

Drinks: people has a thirty foot long oak bar that can quench any thirst. We do carry twenty plus different beers, with an emphasis on Belgian breweries. (just as the Spaniards know their tapas, the Belgians know their beer!). We do also have an excellent wine list with an emphasis on small Spanish wineries that provide amazing value and taste...

Finally, the music: The shortest explanation to our music style is.....World Music! The long explanation is: Flamenco, Reggae, Bossa Nova, Axe, Cuban, Acid Jazz, Tribal, Salsa, Ethnic-Electronica, Lounge... we love our music, but best of all, we keep it conversation friendly...
